A few years ago, my dad walked into a kitchen shop in Paris and found something he'd never seen before. A thing that holds an oyster while you open it. He bought it, brought it home, and that night we had friends over.
He pulled it out at the table. Nobody could guess what it was. Then he put an oyster in and it opened in seconds. No towel. No knife slipping toward his hand.
Everyone went "oh, that's actually smart." I thought the same thing — but I also thought: so many people need this.
The one from Paris wasn't great though. So we sat down and rebuilt it. Better wood. Better design. Better everything. That became the OysterClamp.
